Alexander is a Consultant Solicitor with Mergul Law.
He was called to the Bar in 2009 by the Middle Temple Inns of Court and cross-qualified as a Solicitor in 2013. He specialises in company law, commercial contract (contentious and non-contentious), options, commercial warranties, guarantees and indemnities. He also conducts international arbitration proceedings in that context.
Alexander has particular knowledge in obtaining and enforcing freezing injunctions and charging orders.
He also gained experience in UK Immigration law matters concerning any EU law dimension and in Employment law cases concerning Unfair Dismissal and Discrimination claims against employers (acting for employers).
He appears in county courts across the country on civil law matters.
Alexander handles some significant and complex international arbitration mandates between companies, banks or individuals in different states. His experience and expertise includes advising, drafting statements of case and acting in cases under the rules of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the Netherlands Arbitration Institute and the London Court of International Arbitration. He has particular experience of conducting arbitral proceedings under the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration. Alexander led a number of high-profile multi-million cases of various Russian, Ukrainian and CIS related disputes.
His above experience also includes advising in and drafting a number of successful applications for both security for costs and amount in dispute, obtaining anti-suit injunctions against foreign corporations, acting for a large retailer against a majority shareholder in a claim for unfair prejudice, giving expert evidence on English law in Cypriot courts in relation to worldwide freezing orders against companies and individuals, advising on a Scheme of Arrangement implemented via a Cypriot court, dealing with difficult matters of enforcement of arbitration awards under the 1958 New York Convention and other.
